Can Nature Heal What Nature Creates? - Corvid-19

Updated: Mar 23

In this article, Pam Burn of Colour Energy Works shares some insight as to how we can protect our health and build a stronger immune system to help us fight off disease, using a natural, holistic approach. Pam is a Shamanic Homeopathist and Energy Healer based in Farnham, Surrey and a member of FHT (Federation of Holistic Therapists).

(Disclaimer) This is not medical advice. If you suspect that you may have this virus, then please Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital. Use the 111 online coronavirus service to find out what to do.

First and foremost please isolate yourself at home. If it spreads, it may be more difficult to get help in hospitals and they will become breeding grounds and this puts the lives of many in danger.

Remain positive. Stress causes problems with the immune system. However, there are simple things you can do to be prepared and to get a home pharmacy up and running. Treatments can help you to build up your immune system and to start treatment if you think you are coming down with it.

The information in this article is not a replacement for any medical treatment and should be used alongside any medical advice from a doctor. Our intention for this article is to help you to help yourself during this difficult time and hopefully take some of the strain off of our NHS in the coming months. If your symptoms are severe then follow the guidelines outlined by the NHS on the 111 online coronavirus service.

We believe that taking care of your own health should be paramount at all times and we should all do whatever we can to ensure this remains.

What is Coronavirus?

A coronavirus is a kind of common virus that causes an infection in your nose, sinuses, or upper throat. COVID-19 is a new illness that can affect your lungs and airways.

The 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) is a virus that was first detected in Wuhan, China with an outbreak of respiratory illness.  At first, they linked it to a large seafood and animal market, suggesting human to animal exposure, but over time it is clear to be human-to-human exposure. It is interesting that the powers that be (WHO, UN, The Big Banks, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation) got together in October 2019 to discuss a possible pandemic! (Look up Event 201).

Here is an article in The Telegraph from October 2019, written by Harriet Alexander.

Researchers from the Wuhan Institute of Virology published a paper on 23rd January 2020. It says that the nCov-2019 has a 96% genome match with a bat coronavirus or Cov. It is an enveloped virus, which means the virus is protected by a glycoprotein shell. This is why they are difficult to treat.

Do not buy into the hype and hysteria fed by the mainstream media. There are lots of practical things that can be done to help keep you strong and prevent spread.

Symptoms are similar to the flu - fever, cough and shortness of breath, sore throat, runny nose to start. Then it sets off a powerful inflammatory response in the body.

Viruses are tinier, the largest of them are smaller than the smallest bacteria. All they have is a protein coat and a core of genetic material, either RNA or DNA. Unlike bacteria, viruses can't survive without a host. They can only reproduce by attaching themselves to cells. In most cases, they reprogram the cells to make new viruses until the cells burst and die.

Now, how do we stay protected, and how does the body naturally take care of and eliminate viruses?

1. Take heed of the precautions advised. Social distancing, washing hands, discarding tissues, self-isolating when needed – this lessens the chance of you getting the virus and you pass it on. One of the fastest way its spreading is via tablets, laptops, handles and petrol stations. Everyone should be wearing masks and gloves and please, stay home unless you absolutely need to be out in public.

2. Strengthen your own immune system to protect yourself so it doesn’t take hold of your body.

Our body has a system, called the lymphatic system, that is designed for the job. The damaged cells along with viruses and bacteria are carried to the lymph nodes. Your lymph nodes, also called lymph glands, play a vital role in your body's ability to fight off infections. They function as filters, trapping viruses, bacteria and other causes of illnesses before they can infect other parts of your body. Simplified, the lymph node is the septic tank, breaking down acidic waste, making sure the pH of the waste is not below 3 pH so that the kidneys can handle the elimination. The kidneys will then filter out lymphatic waste, and this is where it gets interesting. We need to keep our attention on our kidneys, to be able to do their job. Elimination is everything.

Every day we generate waste, metabolic waste, on top of what we eat and breathe. We are surrounded by toxins. This leaves us burdened, with a lymphatic system that shows weakness, accumulating waste, because of lack of elimination. What we then see is swollen lymph nodes.

Now, instead of focusing on fear and how to eliminate a virus it is better to focus on health.

So what can we do to protect ourselves? Stay well hydrated and rested. Water is a very basic need and dehydration is a basic cause of disease. We are after all 80% of water.

  • Elderberry - great, effective and gentle immune booster

  • Incorporate Elderberry daily to boost the immune system and other great herbs like Medicinal Mushrooms and Astragalus.

  • Decrease stress - stress uses extra energy and depletes our immune system!

  • Wash your hands often or wear a face-mask if the immune system is compromised. A senior virologist has suggested that the droplets from sneezing remain on surfaces for many hours so do not put your hands to your face (eyes, nose, mouth).

If you do start to experience some flu-like symptoms here are a few recommendations!

  • Elderberry Syrup at the onset as a powerful antiviral and immune booster.

  • Echinacea Tincture - antiviral, antimicrobial, and antibacterial properties and can help fight infection and boost immunity!

  • Fire Cider - Apple Cider Vinegar infused with Garlic, Onion, Horseradish, Ginger and Cayenne peppers, Manuka Honey. The ACV alkalizes our system to help ward off viruses faster. The heat supports the body and the respiratory system.

  • Eat plenty of foods to help fight the infection - clear broths, soups, veggies, and light meals!

  • Avoid foods which will “feed” the virus such as sugar, ice cream, oranges and milk.

  • Get plenty of rest!

  • Stay well hydrated.

  • Blitz up plenty of ginger and make a tea. Infuse for at least 5 minutes. Take regularly.

Herbs:

Any food state botanical is my preferred supplement as they are from nature and synergistic. You do want to find a good supplier as some herbs (inferior Chinese herbs, for example, contain heavy metals.) Do check that there are no contraindications if you suspect you are pregnant.

The world-famous herbalist Stephen Harrod Buhner who has been predicting a pandemic for many years and has been advising we stock up on our own medicinal herbs. He believes overuse of antibiotics and drugs plus vaccines have weakened our immune systems and allowed the viruses to mutate and become resistant to medical intervention. The naturopathic approach is to detox the body and to strengthen the immune system.

Read his book Herbal Antivirals.

Below is a passage from his book, for you to use at home.

Coronavirus treatment. I have an analysis of how coronaviruses infect tissues, what tissues they infect, and the herbs that are useful to interrupt that process, as well as the herbs useful to shut down the cytokine cascade they create on pages 52-55 of Herbal Antivirals. It is useful reading in that it can inform treatment from a knowledgeable place (there are also some suggestions, not often used by medical professionals, for specific pharmaceuticals that have been found to be useful).

Here is a sample protocol. Please note it is rather more extensive than the ones I normally suggest, this is because the particular coronavirus that is now spreading world-wide is exceptionally potent in its impact.

Again, this is only a suggested protocol, but all the herbs are specific in one way or another for this virus. A number of the herbs are strongly antiviral for coronaviruses.

In general, I would only begin using these formulations if there is good reason to believe that the virus is entering your area. The formulations are preventative as well as specific for a Coronavirus treatment. The only alteration is the dosage.

Three tincture formulations and one tea.

Core tincture formulation: Baikal skullcap (3 parts), Japanese knotweed root (2 parts), kudzu (2 parts), licorice (1 part), decocted elder leaf tincture (1 part). Note, the berry will do I guess, but it is about 1/3 as effective as the decocted leaf (which no one sells, you have to make it yourself). Dosage:1 tsp 3x day, 6x if active infection.

Immune system, cellular protection, cytokine interruption tincture formulation, supportive for core tincture activity: Cordyceps (3 parts), Dong Quai (2 parts), Rhodiola (1 part), astragalus (1 part). Dosage: same as above.

Cellular protection, cytokine interruption, spleen/lymph support tincture formulation: Dan Shen (3 parts), red root (2 parts), cinnamon (1 part). same dosage as above.

With active infection: very strong boneset tea (ie Comfrey) to 6x day.

I have used this with other coronavirus infections, including SARS and it works well."

Other herbs:

Elderberry (Sambucus nigra)

  • Boosts our immune system

  • Reduces the intensity and duration of the cold and flu by ½ to ⅓

  • Contains a large amount of Vitamin C

Chemical constituents in Elderberry inhibit the early stages of infection by blocking key viral proteins responsible for attaching and penetrating our cells.  They also reduce the replication, therefore, reducing the intensity and duration!

The US National Library of Medicine did a study of Elderberry & chickens who had been infected with this strain of the coronavirus showing Elderberry was able to inhibit the coronavirus in chickens.

How does this translate to humans?  The US National Library of Medicine felt that S.nigra (Elderberry) has proven to inhibit the virus and this warranted that future studies should be done.

Elderberry is safe for everyone in the family.

Latin Name: Sambucus nigra

Common Names: Elderberry, Black Elderberry, North American Elderberry

Properties: antioxidant, diaphoretic, diuretic, laxative, immune-boosting, anti-inflammatory

Uses: Immune system boost, coughs, colds, flu, bacterial infections, viral infections, tonsillitis, lower cholesterol, improved vision and heart health.

Indicated for: Cancer, HIV, asthma and bronchitis, reduce inflammation of the urinary tract and bladder.

Infusions of the fruit are said to be beneficial for nerve disorders, back pain, and have been used to reduce inflammation of the urinary tract and bladder.

Elderberries contain organic pigments, tannin, amino acids, carotenoids, flavonoids, sugar, rutin, viburnic acid, vitamin A and B and a large amount of vitamin C. They are also mildly laxative, diuretic, and diaphoretic. Flavonoids, including quercetin, are believed to account for the therapeutic actions of the elderberry flowers and berries. According to test-tube studies these flavonoids include anthocyanins that are powerful antioxidants and protect cells against damage.

You can buy under the name Sambucol but this is not very high strength and contains sugar so try to obtain an antiviral from a medical herbalist such as Alan Hopking of www.Herbactive.co.uk No doubt he will have advice on his website.

Or buy Pukka elderberry syrup which contains many anti-virals including elderberry, licorice, thyme, aniseed, horseradish root, ginger root, black pepper and peppermint essential oil.

Researchers have shown that an extract from red algae called Griffithsin- can fight SARS (severe acute respiratory) by breaking down the shells that protect these types of viruses. In France, it was also found that the blue-green algae halt the replication of these viruses. So it may be good to purchase these and add to smoothies as a precaution.

Licorice Root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) has been used for thousands of years for lung infections with similar symptoms as viral infections. This is not the licorice made with sugar as a sweet.

Vitamins and Minerals

Another expert Dr Sircus suggests that if we are deficient in Magnesium (citrate, malate, chloride, chelate or bi-glycinate) any inflammation can get out of hand. So up your intake of leafy greens. Take extra magnesium tablets. Have hot Epsom salt baths. Use magnesium gel or lotion everyday post-shower.

“Every known illness is associated with a magnesium deficiency.” Dr Norman Shealy
“All known diseases start with a mineral deficiency.” Dr Linus Pauling, Nobel prize winner

Dr Sircus says Magnesium chloride is his favourite. Dr Raul Vergini from Italy says: “Magnesium chloride (Ancient minerals) has a unique healing power on acute viral and bacterial diseases. I have seen a lot of flu cases healed in 24/48 hours with 3 grams of magnesium chloride taken every 6/8 hours.

It is important to maximize the body’s anti-oxidative capacity and immunity to prevent and minimize symptoms.

Take large doses of Vitamin C to bowel tolerance (3000 milligrams or more) A food state source such as Radiance C from The Synergy Company is gentler than fizzy tablets of pure ascorbic acid but take what you can. The best source is liposomal vitamin c.

Ingredients for a homemade immune-boosting shot

This was written by Dr Eric Zielinski’s wife, as to how she treated her own pneumonia with this immune-boosting shot using Vitamin C and essential oils which are able to be ingested.

“The vitamin C that I took when I had pneumonia was encapsulated into tiny, nano-sized micelles which are further enveloped into healthy fat cells (i.e. “liposomes”). As the liposomes travel through your gastrointestinal tract, they gradually peel away in a controlled manner. This is because the protective liposomes protect the vitamin C from gastric juices and other absorption barriers in the human gut. The micelles are eventually released and the vitamin C (that you pay good money for) is deposited near the gut where it can be fully absorbed – and not excreted and wasted!

If you’re looking for a good, quality Liposomal Vitamin C Purathrive is very good.

  • 1 serving Liposomal Vitamin C

  • 1 teaspoon of raw honey (Manuka honey is our favourite)

  • 1 teaspoon unrefined coconut oil

  • 1-2 drops Immune Boost Blend Essential Oils* including cinnamon leaf, clove, eucalyptus, rosemary, orange, and lemon essential oils.

(These can also be rubbed onto the chest or put around the nose if not too sore. These essential oils also be inhaled with hot water. Keep eyes closed.

  • ¼ teaspoon organic cinnamon powder

  • Tiny pinch pink Himalayan salt.

  • Add 1-2 drops of Immune Boost Blend Essential Oils to the coconut oil and mix well, then add this mixture to the rest of the ingredients, mixing well again.

Enjoy once or twice daily at the onset of a cold, or when exposed for prevention.

Wash down with pure, filtered water.

Be sure to not use for more than two weeks at a time.

Vitamin D3/K2 It stimulates innate immunity to viruses and bacteria. It is a helpmate of Vitamin C. One of the triggers for flu is Vitamin D deficiency, which we in the northern hemisphere often have. Try to get daylight/sunlight onto your skin for 20 minutes every day.

Zinc 20mg

Selenium: It is a potent immune stimulator

Sodium Bicarbonate, (aluminium free Arm and Hammer) helps alkalinise the body making it more difficult for the virus to proliferate.

In 1918/19, during the flu pandemic, (a little known fact that many millions died) a Doctor Volney. S Cheney wrote, “It was brought to my attention that anyone who had been thoroughly alkalinized with Bicarbonate of soda did not contract the disease and those who did contract it if alkalinized early would invariably have mild attacks.”

Iodine is great to put on the skin. Use Lugol’s iodine. It can be put into distilled water and sprayed onto surfaces or even in the air as an aerosol and thus an effective deterrent against flu. Mix with water and put around the nostrils.

If someone is prone to lung infections I would seriously invest in a nebulizer and this way iodine or sodium bicarbonate or magnesium can be nebulized directly into the lungs. Iodine is a great all-rounder. In 1905 an article in the New York Times wrote about the successful treatment of Consumption/ tuberculosis. Indeed of all antiseptic preparations suitable for direct use on humans and animals, only iodine is capable of killing all classes of pathogens, gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, mycobacteria, fungi, yeasts, viruses and protozoa. Most bacteria are killed within15/20 seconds of contact.

Doctor David Brownstein says, “Iodine is essential to not only fighting off an infection, it is necessary for proper immune system functioning.”

When our immune systems are already depressed, we are more susceptible to viruses and infections. Emerging viruses are becoming more virulent and aggressive and traditional medications less effective against them. Viruses are smart and mutate becoming resistant to pharmaceuticals.

Homeopathy

Gelsemium: Fever with muscular aches and fatigue.

Arsen Alb 30: taken daily on an empty stomach could be taken as a prophylactic medicine against the virus.

Arsen alb: 6c if wheezing.

Kali Carb: 200c as a tissue-specific remedy for lungs.

Oscillococcinum: 30c

Ash: 1M

Goldfish: 1M

I have put together a combination remedy with my Narayani homeopathy kit which includes:

  • Special Immunity 200c

  • Chest and Lung OM,

  • CCA and Special Flu.

Please ring me if you would like me to make this remedy for you. (07889 200 061)

Beevital Products

Bee propolis is also a great immune builder.

Fresh Ginger juice tea every few hours.

Vapourize essential oils. Oregano is especially potent. Plus Rosemary, Tea Tree, Peppermint, Frankincense, Eucalyptus.

Make a blend and mix into a balm or cream to put on your chest. Do not get near your eyes.

Hygiene is of most importance. Wash your hands regularly and carry a hand sanitizer when out and about.

Word of caution: Using too much alcohol-based hand sanitizer or too frequently washing your hands can backfire. Over-washing can cause hands to dry out, crack and bleed, which allows germs to enter the body. Combat dryness by applying moisturizing cream or lotion to damp skin. (use as natural and organic products as possible, of course).

Many hand soaps and hand sanitizers contain triclosan. In the US, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has banned triclosan from antiseptic and antibacterial hand rubs and hand washes, but no such ban exists in the UK. Be cautious and look for triclosan-free hand sanitizers or make your own as per https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/health/wellness/g20706539/how-to-make-a-natural-hand-sanitizer/

CBD Products

This is now being used widely for a variety of diseases and for Anxiety and Depression. There are some terrible supplements that hold very little of the active ingredients. The CBD supplements from www.numeds.co.uk are verified and scientifically tested. That can help you whilst you build immunity and also counter the collective fear and anxiety states shown by everyone with the stocking up of Loo Rolls!! (Root chakra - fear anxiety- basic needs for survival, primal needs.)

Salt Pipe

Buy online. It is a salt inhaler and if you add Lugol’s iodine to the Himalayan salt it will help kill pathogens. It helps you to breathe more clearly. Helps with snoring. Helps clear sinuses and nasal passages. Helps with chronic coughs, asthma and other lung conditions. It helps heal and repair inflamed lungs and airways. Helps with allergies. Helps to recover from illnesses and with rehabilitation. It must be kept in a warm and dry place. Do not share. Have your own dedicated pipe.

Neti Pot

This is a tool to help irrigate the sinuses and nasal cavities which can become infected and blocked by phlegm. Use a saline solution to flush them out. See Youtube for how to do this.

Fermented Foods

There is a huge gut, immune system, brain connection so feeding your good bacteria with home-made ferments makes sense and is a cheap alternative. There is a great book from Dorling Kindersley called Fermenting Food: Step by Step by Adam Elabd. It comes from a long tradition of using these foods to support the gut and our digestion. Herbal vinegar boosts the immune system and helps with symptoms.

Sunshine and Heat

The highest mortality rate in our latitude comes at the end of March. This is related to the lack of sunshine over the winter. It is essential to go outside every day, even in winter, if possible at noon, to connect with the warmth of the sun and top up vitamin D. Allow the sun to warm your third eye chakra (between eye brows) and to re-energise you. It is like connecting to the cosmic heat of the sun. We are energetic batteries and this is akin to topping up your phones. Top up your own batteries.

The Energy System

Energetically the immune system is linked to our boundaries, the boundary between you as an individual and the outside world. Do everything you can to come out of anxiety, which weakens you as an organism and depletes the immune system. Use Yoga, meditation, Tapping, (any type as this gets you out of your head) and energy exercises, which strengthen you on every level.

See Donna Eden on YouTube who goes through these in a simple practical way with her 5 minute energy routine. The spleen meridian needs to be nurtured (linked to our metabolism and our ability to digest and nourish ourselves), by tapping and the triple warmer meridian (our fight, flight, freeze response in times of extreme stress and anxiety), needs to be soothed and calmed. Look at the triple warmer smoothie that Donna demonstrates. I have a handout if anyone would like one.

Laughter

This truly is the best medicine. Dr Norman Cousins helped himself heal by watching funny movies when he was ill. This is why things such as Laughter Yoga have arisen. Endorphins are released that keep you positive and healthy on every level. It really keeps you robust and strong and grounded. The Brits are great at laughing at themselves. Watch funny movies and there are some great comic Apps too.

Stay at home if you feel unwell. Please feel free to share this with friends and family for general advice. I have put this together from my own research as I continue to build my knowledge and my own home pharmacy.

Take preventions and precautions and build your immunity but if in doubt and you start to feel really unwell do consult your doctor or dial 111. Also, take NHS advice.

Keep well
