Mexico is a very big country and so diverse, therefore, the destination(s) you should visit will heavily depend on what exactly it is you want from your trip.
Say you want a beach holiday where everyone speaks English, lots of nightlife, maybe a cheeky night out in Coco Bongos, then any one of the tourist resorts, such as Cancun, Playa Del Carmen, Puerto Vallarta, or Los Cabos will be right up your street.
However, if you want a more simple, laid back sandy beach, with a Tequila and pretty senoritas, perhaps a bit of surf thrown in, then you opt for somewhere like Puerto Escondido, Sayulita, San Pancho, or Tulum.
If you love the hustle and bustle of a city then you must visit Mexico City, it is rich in a long history and offers a diverse culture. Other cities to check out are Guadalajara, Oaxaca, or Monterrey.
If you want to have a mountainous getaway with an artsy vibe, then somewhere like San Cristóbal de las Casas or Tepoztlan. In the north of Mexico is the Copper Canyon, which makes for some incredible hiking!
